Districts And Parishes
Murongo District
Murongo Church District is located along the borders of Uganda and Rwanda and within the Ibanda and Rumanyika Game Reserves. The area is mountainous and hilly, making transportation and travel particularly challenging.
The majority of the people in Murongo are peasants, and the District faces significant infrastructure challenges. During the rainy season, many roads become extremely difficult to pass. The distance from Lukajange to Murongo is more than 135 kilometres, much of which is covered by unpaved roads.
Murongo Church District consists of three parishes and 22 congregations:
- Murongo Parish
- Rwenkende Parish
- Nyakatera Parish
The Church District is headed by Rev. Godfrey Kagashani, who serves as District Pastor.
2. Partnership
Murongo Church District has a long-standing partnership with the Gütersloh Church District in Germany. The partnership has historical roots in the fact that Murongo and Kyerwa were once one Church District.
The partnership was established in 1983 and continues to exist to date. Through this partnership, Christians from the two districts interact and cooperate in several areas, including:
- Supporting education.
- Renovating and constructing church buildings.
- Constructing water tanks.
- Visiting one another to strengthen the relationship.
- Engaging in diaconal activities and other forms of social support.
3. Activities

- Widows
3.4 Evangelism
The District has a programme of visiting church members in their homes and communities. This pastoral and evangelistic ministry has contributed to an increase in the number of believers.
As an outcome, the number of believers increased by more than 3% compared with previous years. Another indication of growth is the expansion of church buildings, which is taking place in almost all congregations.
3.5 Nature Preservation
Environmental conservation is also part of the District's activities.
People are taught:
- To plant trees and protect forests.
- Not to burn grains during the dry season.
- About the importance of proper land cultivation and sustainable use of natural resources.

Murongo Church District has identified the following priorities for the future:
