Partnership Consultation 2008

From 4.-8. August 2008 the first KAD partnership consultation took place at the Karagwe Hotel in Kayanga. It was a meeting of the Karagwe Diocese with Bishop Benson Bagonza, representatives of the KAD-administration and German and Tanzanian partnership groups. Representatives from the church districts of Biedenkopf, Gladenbach, Leverkusen and Selters were present. The districts of Arnsberg, Guetersloh and Luebbeke did not participate because they had planned another visiting and work camp schedule. Monday, Bishop Dr. Benson Bagonza officially opened the consultation. The former Dean Rev. D. Tinkaligaile and Rev. Jorg Staehler gave two keynote addresses about the journey in partnership since 1980. On Tuesday Bishop Bagonza looked at the theme “KAD and Partnership – vision and reality” from the point of view of the Karagwe diocese while Mr. Polisi Kivava, UEM Assistant Africa Secretary from Daressalam, reflected on the theme from the perspective of UEM. On Tuesday afternoon there were workshops on issues such as visits, spirituality, work of the partnership committees, projects, advocacy and communication. On Wednesday KAD General Secretary Erasto Kamihanda presented the new ‘Strategic Plan of KAD June 2008 to June 2013’. In the afternoon the partnership groups met in order to discuss bilateral matters. On Thursday the participants visited different projects: KARASECO (Education), the Hospital Nyakahanga (Health), the forestation project in Bweranyange (Development) and the deaconess-centre Nkwenda (Women and advocacy).
