Together in Partnership: Ten people from Germany visit Nyakahanga Hospital
Since the year 2008 the partnership between the Nyakahanga hospitals of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania- Karagwe Diocese was established and a contract was signed.This partnership between Ategris and Nyakahanga has been growing every day and many successes have been achieved. Ategris is the communion of two church based hospitals one in Mulheim and another one in Olbahousen-Germany.
Since then the regular visits in groups has been going on in an exchange program between people from both sides. In 2009, the group of 5 people from Nyakahanga Hospital Rev. Oscar Samwel, Sr. Petronia Kaihura, Mr. Mwesigwa Kabululu, Ms. Redempta Kahumuza and Dr. Andrew Charles visited Ategris, and in the same year the group of 10 people from Ategris Mr. Tim Heinzen, Michael Konrad, Dirk Jugenhoff, Manfred Happe, Dr. Carla Oelgeschlagev, Dr. Olaf Heinen, Frank Seipert, Erust Holstein, Dorothee Lebeda and Sr. Doris Horn visited Nyakahanga.
This exchange of visitations continues even this year while the group of five people Dr. Joseph Kashashari, Mr. Agras Isaac, Mr. Langton Kishebuka, Ms. Christa Katesigwa and Ms. Cecilia Kazaula visited Germany in June. Now the group of 10 people including Dr. Katharina Kleine, Herman Rosshoff, Biauca Poblocki, Detlev Timpf, Sr. Doris Horn, Veronica Skrgic, Heike Schramm, Hanna Jaworski, Thomas Fricke and Dr. Linda Bruns from Ategris are visiting Nyakahanga hospital since 21st August, 2010.
On 23rd August, 2010 the group visited Karagwe Diocese Head quarters in Lukajange where they met with some of the Diocesan Management Team and get an official welcome. The KAD General Secretary Mr. Erasto Kamihanda welcomed the guests and introduced the hosts to the guests
“Thank you very much for coming. We do appreciate this partnership and especially I want to say specifically that we are very grateful for the vehicle which you offered to Nyakahanga Hospital. This is really among the good results of this partnership” Said Mr. Kamihanda.
Then the acting Dean Rev. Ngambeki explained about the KAD mission work in Karagwe area which is proclaiming the gospel as well as serving people socially and economically.
During these visitations different activities has been done like working in the hospital, visiting different projects and other interesting places.
During their stay in Karagwe, the group from Germany will be working in the Hospital in different departments and they will have opportunity to visit diocesan programs like Aids Control Project, Voluntarily Counselling and Testing (For HIV/AIDS), Palliative Care Unit among others. It is very interested that the guests together with their hosts will get time for fun and sports as the way of strengthening the partnership in groups and individually.
Apart from introducing the group, Sr. Doris Horn, the leader of the delegation, expressed her thanks for being welcomed and she mentioned some of the projects which both sides of partnership are looking forward to work on in the future. Those are water project, Hospital equipments, internal communication, and nursing school. The guests will be visiting Karagwe up to 30th August, 2010 when they will travel back to Germany via Kilimanjaro.
