KARUCO gets ambassadors in the USA
Lukajange.- Partners from all corners of the globe continue to visit Karagwe Diocese in the framework of 100 years jubilees. For about two weeks the Diocese hosted two guests from the United States of America. These were Prof. Jan B. Hansen and her husband Steve Hansen. Mrs. Jan Hansen is education professor, a speaker and author at St. Thomas University in Minnesota and Steve Hansen is a Senior Business Development Manager at the Mortenson Construction Company. Steve specializes in renewable energy.During their stay, they visited different departments and activities in the Diocese such as: The new life in Karagwe project, Bweranyange girl’s secondary school, Imani English Medium Primary School, Nyakahanga Hospital, Karagwe Secondary School, women activities in Mabira church district, Aids Control Project, attending church service and the planned Karagwe University College (KARUCO).
On conclusion of their stay in Karagwe, 15th July, 2010 was the day for evaluation where the couple met with the diocesan management team at Karagwe Hotel. On that occasion, the Bishop of KAD Dr. Benson Bagonza thanked them for choosing to spend their holiday in Karagwe. The bishop explained that the guests could have chosen to visit another place of the world but because they love Karagwe they decided come to Karagwe. As an expression appreciation for their commitment to Karagwe and its people, Bishop Bagonza presented them with honour to be ambassadors of KARUCO in the USA.
“We thank you so much for your decision to visit Karagwe and your initial commitment to what we are doing in this corner of the globe. On behalf of the Diocese, I officially declare you to be KARUCO ambassadors in the US”, said Bishop Bagonza.
Then the guests had time to share their experience of staying in Karagwe. They mentioned openly that they have enjoyed a lot to be in the Karagwe community and participating in some of the church activities.
“We have enjoyed our visit and especially your effort on making development for Karagwe people spiritually and physically. Your struggle for establishing Karagwe University College (KARUCO) is a great idea and it’s a good hope for your community because as you know a big institution like that invites different people from many countries and that means development will be realized”, said Dr. Jane Hansen.
During the final debriefing, issues of mutual concerns were discussed focusing on KARUCO and Bweranyange Girls Secondary school.
The couple carrying ambassadorial duties for KARUCO travelled from Karagwe to USA via Entebbe on 16th July, 2010 and they provided information that they arrived safely to their home in Minnesota USA.
