Karagwe Diocese delegate at the Lutheran World Federation Assembly 2010
Lukanjange.- The Lutheran World Federation Assembly will be held in Stuttgart, Germany, from 20 to 27 July 2010 under the theme “Give Us Today Our Daily Bread”. It will be attended by 418 delegates from the 138 full member churches, half of whom will be women and 20 percent youth delegates.Rev. Elieth Kiiza has been chosen to attend the Assembly representing the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania –Karagwe Diocese. Rev. Elieth expressed her feelings on this precious opportunity by saying “I thank God so much for this chance because I was chosen among many people to represent my Diocese of Karagwe and I can say also I am representing the ELCT and my country as well. I am looking forward to learn new things from the Assembly for my own benefits but also for the betterment of my Diocese. Thanks to the Diocesan leadership for permitting me to go for the Assembly”.
The Bishop of Karagwe Diocese, Dr. Benson Bagonza gave a comment about to the opportunity of sending Rev. Elieth Kiiza to the forthcoming LWF Assembly: “.The LWF Assembly is the highest decision making body of the Global Lutheran Communion. Therefore to attend it is not only precious, it is an opportunity that many Lutherans including many bishops, have never been accorded.”
The whole ELCT will be represented by 11 delegates and they are scheduled first to attend a pre-assembly in Abuja Nigeria which will bring together all Africa delegates to the LWF assembly. The LWF assembly convened once in every seven years. The last assembly was held in Winnipeg Canada.
