On 10th June 2009 the residents of Murukurazo Ward, Ngara District and others from different areas of the district were very happy to see the first dispensary inaugurated in their area. This event which was marked as a joyous event to happen in the ward for about last five years was lead by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Benson Bagonza, the Bishop of the ELCT Karagwe Diocese.

Among very important guests attended the event was Ngara District Commissioner, Mr. Nyankonji who represented the government. Before, about 6000 people had to walk 18 up to 20 kilometers to get treated at Murgwanza Hospital or Nyamiyaga Hospital which both are found close to Ngara district head quarters.

This health centre was funded by Mr. Schmale and his family from Germany through the Gladenbach District which is the partner of Ngara Mission area of the ELCT Karagwe Diocese.

The construction to the completion of Main block which has reception, drugs store and offices, as well as a small building for maternity unity and two toilets is to cost about 6.3 millions Tanzanian Shillings.

Children of Burengo Primary School which is close to Katenga Dispensary sung a special song on the inauguration which one of its four paragraphs said, “Our church has served us from walking long distance to Murgwanza and Nyamiyaga (these are hospitals found about 18-20 kilometers from their village). Our weakness is now over, we are going to use this dispensary effectively and take care of it. God has blessed us.”

In his speech Bishop Bagonza urged the villagers to take care of the dispensary has their own baby: “The church has constructed this dispensary and its work is over, you should keep this dispensary in good manner because by doing so you will be treated here and your children as well as grand children. We have a small and mud church building in this area, but for us the health of many people regardless of their faiths is the priority than having a nice church building.”

The coming of this dispensary forced Ngara District local government together with CONCERN International to bring water services in the area.
