Rev. Revocatus Leonard Vows to Pastoral Ministry

Kaisho: 09.09.2018. The new church building of Nyakajwenge congregation was filled with well wishers from Rev. Revocatus Leonard home parish, guests from all over the diocese, Kyerwa District Commissioner, fellow theological students, and guests from outside the diocese as he was ordained as a pastor. Hon. Bishop Dr Benson Bagonza preached the sermon during the service.

During the service, Bishop Bagonza reminded Rev. Revocatus that the holiness of his service is not a result of his own holiness, but the holiness of He who called him. He reminded Rev. Revocatus to imitate Jesus, who in his holiness gave up his divine privileges and took the humble position of a slave to those who should have served him.

“These things I covenant before God, asking his grace that I may fulfill them and his forgiveness where I may fail or fall short” was his final statement when concluding his pastoral covenant. During his speech, Rev. Revocatus said that he has began his ministry in the environment where many youths are facing challenges of drug and alcohol abuse, and that he is committed to bring hope and changes to young people.

Kyerwa District Commissioner, Hon. Rashid Abdallah Mwaimu was amazed by the interfaith spirit of the ELCT-KAD. He said that the government depends a lot to the church in bringing order and harmony to the community.

The celebrations ended on Monday by thanks giving service and ceremony at his home. It was two days of joy and dancing. But it’s not only joy to Revocatus but solemnly a commitment to a life of joyful obedience and selfless service in order to glorify God and enrich his people before himself.

“Now may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14”
