Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.(New Year and Bishop's silver Jubilee)

Nyakasimbi: 1, January 2018. Happy New Year 2018 from KAD. The highly anticipated morning service of New Year was celebrated at Nyakasimbi parish and was attended by hundreds of people from different places and denominations. The long service incorporated four events which were celebrating the New Year, consecration of the new church building, inauguration of a new parish of Nyakasimbi as well as celebrating a silver jubilee anniversary of Bishop Benson Bagonza and Rev. Modest Byomutonzi since their priestly ordination.

The service was graced by Hon. Bishop Benson Bagonza and Hon. Bishop Elisa Buberwa, the retired bishop of North Western Diocese. Along with
them, were 15 pastors.

Bishop Bagonza delivered a sermon from Hebrew 13: 8 “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, and today and forever” He insisted on the
unchanging nature of Jesus and urged people not to be swept away by the wave of false doctrines, which by their teachings, and ways of worship, think they can change Jesus. “Jesus will remain the same, the healer and savior, he is the same and will never change” he said. He added that Christ is our foundation and we are being called
to build our faith on that foundation. On the beginning of the New Year, he asked people to find tranquility in Christ in this changing world and stop being troubled.

Family, friends and all well wishers came out in large numbers to accompany their bishop and Rev. Modest in their commemoration of the
25th anniversary of their priestly ordination. It truly was a memorable event of reflection and remembrance for the journey
full of challenges and success.

As we begin the New Year Let we look at the past with gratitude. Let
us look at the present with joy and let us look to the future with hope.
