In 1912 the first institution by Karagwe Diocese was established: Nyakahanga Hospital started its work and the medical help at Karagwe. It was an encouring advantage for land and people.

100 years later, further successes and advantages have taken place and the jubilee is a great chance to celebrate it: From 27th August to 2nd September there will be exhibitions of the hospital history, workshops of education concerning health or social services and an entertainment programme. The focus is set on the healthcare service: Local and foreign doctors will work together and offer medical consultations and special tests for everyone.
The celebration will find its climax on 9th September.

During the early days, the Nyakahanga Hospital was a small dispensary found by German missionaries. But year after year the services expanded and the institution was elevated to the status of a hospital in 1963. Since the beginning in 1912, medical staff, doctors and nurses did their best to improve work, knowledge and ways of healing people. Within this time the hospital managed in collaboration with partners and stakeholders to bring more and more modern equipment for diagnostics and treatment. That’s the reason why the celebrations are also planned to pull all stakeholders together: Government, partners, donors, NGOs, FBOs, CBOs, ecumenical institutions, government agencies, missionaries, volunteers and private firms will celebrate 100 years of Nyakahange Hospital.
