Nkwenda Deakoness School
Nkwenda Mother House is a community of female deaconesses who are committed to serve the almighty God for the whole life. The centre was established in 1992 by the German Mother House in Kassel and two sisters, Sr. Hedi Hennrich and Hanna Goebel together with their friends from the Netherlands. The institution aims for the development of women, children and social welfare ministry in offering:
- Development of training for nursing provision and cure ministry;
- Rural venerability take care ministry;
- Missionary ministry in parishes;
- Training of deacons (i.e. pre-school teachers, teachers).
Achievements
From 1992 to 2000, 18 female deacons were trained. Nine of them are still serving God; From 2001 to 2007, 48 Pre-school teachers were educated. All of them are working. In 1998 the Kindergarten school was built, around five hundred children have been educated up to date. The kindergarten also provides a meal for the children.
Plans
Short term plan
- Continuing with the training of Pre-school teachers;
- Education of children in the Kindergarten;
- Renovation of one dormitory classrooms and kitchen;
- Developing agriculture, livestock initiatives as a way for self reliance.
Long term plan
- Overall rehabilitation of the centre;
- Establishment of the long plan programme for Deaconess Education course;
- Construction of new building structures which will include one dormitory, one dinning hall, a new kitchen, and a new building for teachers for Pre-school classes;
- Construction of Primary school building structures in order to continue the kindergarten school.
