Ihembe Church district is one of the 8 Church districts in Karagwe Diocese. It has 12,850 Church members according to the 2012 census. The district is south of the Head Office in Lukajange. The distance from the Head Office to the Ihembe District is 45 kilometers on unpaved roads. The district is composed of 5 Parishes.
These parishes are saved by 4 Pastors and one deacon in 2016. The 4 Parishes are made of 23 Congregations besides, the evangelists total up to 34. Out of 34, 30 serve the congregations and teach Christian education at the same time while 4 of them teach only Christian education at primary, secondary schools and colleges in Ihembe District.
The pastors in Ihembe district are in place as follows. Rev. BegumisaProjectus (Ihembe Parish/ District), Rev. Adrian Lwenteme (Nyakayanja Parish), Rev. MelckzedeckIromba (KashesheParish), Rev. Theobald Kadihira (Bisheshe Parish),Sr Ester Kahisi (Ihembe District).
The district has twenty three congregations: Ihembe, Kajunguti, Rubale, Kibogoizi, Kashambi, Nyakayanja, Nyaishozi, Lukale, Nyamiyaga, Bukangara, Kasheshe, Rugabo, Ruhita, Nyakasimbi, Kahanga, Kabale, Rugu, Rwibitembe, Bisheshe, Rwanda, Kashuro, Kikwingiri and Bethsaida. There is 1 congregation known and served as mission area Rwachikoboko in Nyakayanja Parish.
In Ihembe there are some of institutions owned by KAD; those are EMaU (Nkwenda Youth and Farmers Training centre) and Ihembe Dispensary.
As other church districts in KAD, we are working and guided by the KAD – strategic plan 2014 – 2018. Basically our main task is to preach the word of God, in which we are called and asked to serve man holistically. In doing that our concern as well as activities/projects is as follows:-
i) Preaching the gospel
ii) Education for adults, youths and children through various seminars
iii) Christian education (Primary Schools, Secondary schools and Colleges)
iv) Water tanks construction.
v) Installing and repairing electricity system in Parish Pastors houses and District station.
vi) Environmental conservation
vii) Construction of the new church buildings and houses (District house), Bisheshe and proposed Parish at Nyakasimbi.
Viii) Establishment of generating income projects.
ix) Buying a new car
[b]Other projects conducted in Ihembe District under the KAD supervision are as follows:-
i) New life Project, this was operated in all 4 Parishes within the District, the project was finished.
ii) Diaconic work, this is working/ practiced in each congregation.
iii)KARUCO Project; the church members are contributing funds for the construction of KARUCO.But also the District through their partners are invited to build hostels as the can so that they can earn something as a source of income in the District.
iv) Mission and Evangelism Programme, the Diocesan departments provide some equipment as well as funds in order to support the work of preaching the word of God all over the district.
v) Environmental conservation Project, re-Afforestation project.
c) VSLA: There are groups within the District formed under the ACP with the aim of enabling community members depending on themselves, esp. in entrepreneurship.
There are also 3 Saccoss where people saving and credits supervised by the Planning and Development department of the KAD.
The church district in Ihembe, thanks God that we are blessed with friends. The partnership between church districts in Arnsberg is still growing up.
There are also partnership between Kasheshe Parish and Rodding Parish in Denmark. The partnership is well and lively working on the Programme of south to south partnership.
Through the Diocesan level were connected to UEM- Germany, CoS (Sweden), DANMISSION (Denmark) in which we share number of blessings from this partnership and USA/LCA (America).
A number of projects mentioned above have been supported through these partners. Thank God and all partners for the spirit of working together with love.
WE ONLY IHEMBE DISTRICT WORKING AND SERVING AND REMAINING WITH A PROBLEM OF MEANS OF TRANSPORT IN KAD. WE CALL UPON PARTNERS AND FRIENDS OF IHEMBE TO HAVE A LOOK ON HOW TO SOLVE THE SITUATION ON HOW IHEMBE DISTRICT CAN HAVE A CAR AS A MEANS OF TRANSPORT.
