Ngara District Commissioner, Mr. Nyankonji applaused the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Karagwe Diocese for serving human beings in Karagwe und Ngara holistically. This was said on 10th June 2009 during the inauguration of Katenga Dispensary in Ngara District.
During his speech to the audience Mr. Nyankonji said: “We thank the church for helping the government to reach its plan. It is governments plan to establish a dispensary in every ward, but it will take us several years to do it. The church has been helping us to be where we want to be in several areas, especially in areas of education and health services.”
The Katenga Dispensary was built by ELCT Karagwe Diocese together with Gladenbach District of Germany which is a partner to Ngara Mission area. The Katenga Dispensary will serve four villages, Nterungwe, Nyakiziba, Murukurazo nad Rusumo.
The other point the District Commissioner made was the supervision of high standards by the church leadership; he specifically pointed out Rev. Uzima Tirumanywa, pastor of Ngara Mission area. “We (government) are also able to run such a project but not in a very short time as you did in this case.” The building process had started on 9th June 2008, and after one year, the project was completed.
Before District’s commissioner speech, Murukurazo Ward representative addressed the audience full of thanks, “We thank the Lutheran Church for being ready to serve our people, as a leader I am very happy the big problem which disturbed my people for a long time now is over. We pray to God that you (church) may not end here, but continuing with other services especially education services.”
The Ngara District Council’s director who spoke before ward representative thanked the church (Karagwe Diocese) for being ready to help all people without any segregations. “Really we see the love of God through this dispensary, Karagwe Diocese of the Lutheran Church has few followers in this area but for them this is not the matter, their aim is to serve human being without looking to their differences.”
