Introduction to the plan of establishing the Karagwe University College

Why a university project in Karagwe? Why is the church involved in such a project? Why a university of agriculture and other applied sciences?

These and other questions are being asked by many people who live outside Karagwe when they hear the plans by Karagwe Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania to establish a university college. The Karagwe Diocese of the ELCT decided through its 16th Synod Assembly to establish the Karagwe University College of Agriculture and Center for Environmental Studies (KAUCOACES). KAUCOACES will be a constituent of the Tumaini University, which has other constituent colleges in Iringa, Moshi, Makumira, Lushoto and Dar-es-salaam.
