Department of Mission & Evangelism

The aim of the department is to carry out programmes and activities on mission, evangelism and stewardship. It works together with district and parish pastors, evangelists and sisters. The department conducts seminars, workshops and is responsible for the dialogue between KAD and other denominations and religions.

Every month the department collects reports on mission, evangelism and stewardship from all parishes. If there are no other major activities of evangelism, every pastor has to submit one copy of a sermon among those that he/she has preached in a month.

Rev. Anicet Maganya is the coordinator of the department. Dean Rev. Phares Kakulima is the chairperson of all meetings summoned by the department.

Activities

The department arranges open air preaching in different areas. In 2008, the department has already conducted six 3-days-events of open air preaching.

It also conducted four seminars on stewardship in Ihembe, Mabira and Kyerwa Districts. The aim of these seminars was to encourage the work of the church members. Time was also set aside for sharing of one’s problems, questions about the work and spiritual sharing.

Plans

Public Relations Work: The department is planning a website for the Karagwe Diocese (e.g. www.karagwe-diocese.org) and a Diocesan Newsletter. The website will make the Karagwe Diocese public in the whole world. This will help partners and other friends to know more about the Karagwe Diocese, its vision, mission and work.
Rev. Jorg Staehler, Germany, decided to spend his sabbatical leave in Tanzania in order to assist the Karagwe Diocese in developing the website. The department coordinator will be the administrator of the website.

Small Units of outreach: The research is still going on how to organise small units of church members where people can preach and visit one another to encourage spiritual life. The research is led by Rev. Projestus Begumisa, Kyerwa District pastor.
