The office of the bishop in KAD functions as a pastoral office. In this, it oversees the correct administration of the sacrament, teaching and proclamation of the word. Headed by the bishop, and assisted by the dean of the Cathedral, district pastors, parish pastors, sisters and evangelists, the office is charged with the spiritual direction of church members as well as witnessing to the non-members.

In community matters, the office of the Bishop functions as a prophetic office setting itself apart as a symbol of hope and a voice for the voiceless. Therefore, the office carefully scrutinizes the candidates for the theological training, passes on blessings through worship services, ordains pastors and sisters (deacons) and sends persons off on special callings as well as instituting new vocations.

On the matters of administration and public functioning, the bishop is the main official spokesman of the diocese to the government as well as a uniting factor to the ecumenical community.

Through the Synod assembly, the bishop presides as a spiritual father of the church at work.
