Ihembe District

The Ihembe District has four parishes. The district is south of the Head Office in Lukajange. The distance from the Head Office to the Ihembe District is 45 kilometres on unpaved roads.

The district pastor is Rev. Simon Kahawa, who is also pastor for the Ihembe and Nyakayanja Parishes.The parish pastor for Bisheshe Parish is Rev. Johansen Tinkaligaile and for Kasheshe Parish Rev. Jovinary Karoro. Deacon P.Gwiyago who is at Ihembe parish.

The district has twenty congregations: Ihembe, Kajungute, Rubale, Kigongoizi, Kashambi, Nyakayanja, Nyaishozi, Lukale, Nyamiyaga, Bukangara, Kasheshe, Rubabo, Ruhita, Nyakasimbi, Kahanga, Kabale, Bisheshe, Rwanda, Kashuro, Kiikwingili.

The total number of congregants is 11,000.

Since many years the district has a partnership with the Church District (Kirchenkreis) Arnsberg.

  • Evangelistic meetings were conducted,
  • Three church buildings were renovated,
  • Four Church buildings were built,
  • The Women’s Church Centre was extended,
  • In the Women’s Church Centre the tailoring class was successful. The participants were lent the sewing machines,
  • We have dealt with environmental conservation through our tree planting project,
  • The school expenses for the students in Bible School were paid,
  • The partnership with our partner district in Arnsberg was strengthened,
  • Seminars on different issues were conducted.

  • Proclaiming the word of God as well as administering the Sacraments,
  • More evangelistic meetings,
  • Various seminars will be conducted,
  • 3 church buildings will be renovated,
  • 2 new Church buildings will be constructed,
  • Environmental conservation will be prolonged,
  • School expenses in Bible School will be taken care of,
  • 4 new water tanks will be constructed,
  • 1 pastor’s house in Bisheshe Parish will be constructed,
  • Participation with the Diocesan departments and NGO’s will be taken into a higher consideration,
  • Strengthening the partnership with our German district partner Arnsberg,
  • Projects for generating income.
