Here we are
Tanzania is part of East Africa. The Karagwe Diocese itself is located in the north-western part of Tanzania, bordered by Uganda in the North and Rwanda in the West. The Karagwe Diocese lies in the north-western corner of the country and west of Lake Victoria.

The area has mountains ranging between 900 metres and 1.835 meters above sea level. There are two rainy seasons from September to December and between February and May. The total amount of rainfall in a year is on an average of 1.000 mm. The vegetation ranges from a thick equatorial type of forest in the Northern parts of Karagwe District to predominantly Savannah bushes and grass in Ngara District.
About 96% of the inhabitants are peasants and depend on the products of their farms for their livelihood. The food crops include banana, potatoes, cassava, corns and millet. In most cases production is for domestic consumption. Coffee is the major cash crop.Due to poor trade policies, the coffee price has been steadily declining for the last years. This is very discouraging for the farmers and influences their income and therefore the development of the region unfavourably.
